Nursery School Admissions
Rosemary Lane Nursery School is a Maintained Nursery School that is registered to provide places for children from the term after they turn two years old until they transfer into a Reception class.
We offer places for both 15hours and 30hours, during school term time.
Admissions Criteria
We have an admissions policy that explains how we allocate places.
Waiting List for a Nursery Place

We will then contact you when your child is turning two years to offer you a place to attend nursery. If you have any questions or would like to discuss a place for your child please either call into nursery, email rosemary.lane@durhamlearning.net or telephone on 0191 527 1168. Each family is unique and you may have a question that is not covered by the information provided on our website.
Childcare Code
We offer nursery places to families who have a valid childcare code for either 15hours or 30hours or families who would like to access the universal 15hour place for a 3-year-old child. We do not offer any paid for places due to space.
Codes for 2-year-old places
Parents and carers of 2-year-old children may be entitled to a 15 hour ‘Play and Learn’ place, if they receive some additional forms of government support. To check your eligibility for this and apply for a code, please visit the Durham County Council website.
Eligible working parents and carers of children aged 2-year-old can get up to 30 hours a week of support for childcare. If you are a working parent or carer please visit the Best Start in Life website to apply for your code.
Codes for 3-year-old places
Parents and carers of 3-year old children are all entitled to access a universal place for their 3-year-old child. There is no code required for this offer.
Working parents and carers of 3-year-old children are entitled to access up to 30hours a week of support for childcare. f you are a working parent or carer please visit the Best Start in Life website to apply for your code. This is the same code that can be used to assess a 2-year-old place.
WORKING PARENT CODED MUST BE RENEWED TO REMAIN VAILD
You must renew your working parent childcare code every three months. You can renew your code by logging into your childcare account and confirming your details. You’ll receive a text or email four weeks before your reconfirmation deadline to prompt you to log in.
Please be vigilant in renewing your code. If you don’t renew your code, your funding will stop and you may lose your place.
If your circumstances have changed, you’ll need to amend and resubmit your details.
We know it can be hard for parents and carers to understand what they are eligible for. Please do not hesitate to get in contact with the school office to discuss your individual circumstances. You can telephone 0191 527 1168, email rosemary.lane@durhamlearning.net or call into school.

Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
The majority of Children with Special Educational Needs can be supported at any nursery school, nursery unit or Early Years setting.
Nursery provision is also available in certain Special Schools. Support for individual pupils is determined by Durham Local Authority through Education, Health and Care Assessment.
The Durham Local Authority Admissions criteria stipulate that children are offered a Nursery place according to their age. However, children identified with Special Educational Needs are given priority irrespective of when they have their third birthday.
If you feel that your child has additional needs that we need to consider and that may entitle them to be given priority during the admission process, please let us know when you place their name on the waiting list.
Further information can be found in our School Policies section. Please view or download the School Admission Policy, SEN Policy and Equal Opportunities Policy.
If you would like to discuss your SEND requirements in detail please contact the school to arrange an appointment.
