The key person’s role is to support emotional well-being, facilitate learning, and support your child in their nursery life. The key people communicate regularly with parents and carers – sharing progress updates and encouraging family involvement in their child’s early education. It is important that you familiarise yourself with the nursery team.
Willow Room
In the Willow room, instead of assigning a specific key person to each child, we have designed our environment to encourage children to interact and engage with all staff members. This approach allows your child to build relationships with a nurturing group of caring educators, promoting social skills and adaptability.
By working with various staff, children benefit from a range of teaching styles and perspectives, enriching their learning experience. Our team is dedicated to understanding each child’s individual needs and interests, ensuring they receive the support and attention that they deserve. We believe that this method fosters a sense of community and helps children feel secure and confident as they begin the first steps of their nursery journey.
Maple Room
Similarly, in the Maple room, children have the opportunity to work with all of the staff across the provision. As they settle into the rhythm of the day, at various times they will meet in a group with an adult to share special times such as snack time. This routine and gathering with consistent and familiar adults, helps to create a sense of security and belonging, making children feel more comfortable and confident in their learning environment.
It is important to us that staff build strong relationships with children and their families. Please know that you can speak to any member of staff in the Willow or Maple room about your child.
Oak Room
In the Oak room, children continue to work with all staff in the setting, However, each key person is assigned a specific group of children. Children will come into their key person group each day for adult led maths and phonics sessions as well as snack time. In the Oak room, your child’s key person is your first point of contact for any queries or concerns.
